This by and large slipped me by, and i've just caught wind of it, but it appears, early this month THQ and Marvel Entertainment announced that they have officially signed an agreement for a new franchise: Marvel Super hero squad.
This agreement will allow THQ to publish their videogames on both current and next gen consoles, PC's and even hand helds. Simon Phillips, President of Marvels' game division has this to say: "Licensing of the Marvel Super Hero Squad brand is a priority for Marvel, as we see it as a great entry point for kids to experience our renowned characters. We are making a strong commitment to the brand across toys, television and other media and consumer product channels and developing Marvel Super Hero Squad as a video game will play an important role in the development of this brand." Unfortunately, this seems to indicate that it will be geared more towards kids, and as a keen marvel fan myself, thats dissapointing. Still, Heres hoping THQ drags some good out of this deal and produce some kind of Marvel Vs Smackdown fighting game so I can beat wrestlers round the head as iron man. :P
The first game has been pencilled in for release early 2009, and its rumoured an animated series will be released around the same time.

Set sail for fail. THQ is horrible and Marvel characters seem to have a video game curse about them.
But i liked Rise of the Imperfects :P
