First concrete Banjo Kazooie details announced!

Wednesday 14 May 2008

While I was never a big fan of Banjo-Kazooie on the N64 [Donkey Kong for life!], I cant deny it was a very popular game, and as its from the people at Rare, who I've had a lot of respect for since Goldeneye and Conkers bad fur day, I thought I'd check it out the preview on IGN.

It seems to be throwing around a lot of buzzwords, apparently they are "reinventing" the series. Sean Reed the lead designer claims: "Although obviously the gameplay's radically changed from the previous banjo's, we're trying to keep the banjo flavour"

What interests me the most about the title, and I'm unaware whether this is a new feature or not, is the creation of vehicles to overcome the obstacles, from the preview: "Slap a few blocks together, add some wheels, a seat, some fuel and an engine and you have a car. Take off the wheels and add a propeller and you've got a boat. Put the propeller on the top and you just made yourself a helicopter." This sounds like an interesting twist to me, and sounds like theres alot of platforming involved aswell.

Add onto this a Xbox live multiplayer, and you've got a nice complete package that i'm eager to have a crack at.

Thanks DW for this news. I really enjoyed the BK series back on the N64 (Tooie was a real gaming highlight for me), and these screenies really do look orgasmic.

You're on the topbar of thethreers.co.uk now, BTW.
